Enigma Cafe Bar is a trading name of Mistero Limited (Company No. 09398576), 18 Coventry Road, Market Harborough LE16 9BZ. Mistero Limited is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, email tom@enigma-mh.co.uk, call 01858 433933 or write to us at the address above.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website (enigma-mh.co.uk), make a table booking, send a private hire enquiry or contact us, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

  • When you book a table: your name, email address, phone number, the date, time and number of guests, any notes you add, and how you heard about us.
  • When you send a private hire enquiry: your name, email address, phone number, event date, approximate start time, number of guests, type of event, whether you want the whole venue or part hire, details of your plans, and how you heard about us.
  • When you contact us: your name, email address, enquiry type, subject, your message and how you heard about us.
  • When you call, email, message us on social media, or book in person: the details you give us so we can take and manage your booking.
  • Dietary and allergy information: if you tell us about an allergy or dietary requirement, we only use it to prepare for your visit safely. Please only share what we need to know.
  • Technical information: our website host automatically records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • To respond to your enquiry and to take, confirm, manage or change your booking or event (to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract).
  • To contact you about your booking, for example if we need to change a time or ask a question (contract and legitimate interests).
  • To understand how people find us, using the "How did you hear about us?" answer, so we can improve our marketing (legitimate interests). We only look at these answers in total, never to profile individuals.
  • To keep our website secure and working properly (legitimate interests).
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations, for example keeping records of deposits and payments (legal obligation).
  • Allergy and dietary information is used only to look after you during your visit, with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by contacting us.

We will not send you marketing emails unless you have separately asked to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Your information can only be seen by authorised Enigma staff who manage bookings and enquiries, using a password-protected staff area, and by ADVNC, the agency that builds and maintains our website, when needed to support it. We also use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, including our website hosting and database provider. These providers may store data on secure servers in the UK, EU or US; where data is transferred outside the UK we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations. If you hire the venue and choose to use our in-house DJ, we will only pass your contact details to them with your agreement. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we only share it with others if the law requires us to.

Our public website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. We use small amounts of browser storage only where needed for the site to work, for example to remember that you closed a seasonal banner, and to keep staff signed in to the staff area. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings. See our Cookie policy for more detail.

  • Table booking details: up to 12 months after the booking date.
  • Private hire enquiries and bookings: up to 2 years after the event, or up to 6 years where we need to keep financial records of deposits and payments.
  • Contact messages: up to 12 months after we last replied.
  • Allergy and dietary notes: deleted with the booking they relate to.

After these periods we delete or anonymise the information.

We use secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls so only authorised staff can view bookings and enquiries, and reputable hosting providers. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will act promptly if anything goes wrong.

You have the right to: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete; ask us to delete your information; ask us to restrict or object to how we use it; ask us to transfer it to you or another organisation; and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. To make a request, email tom@enigma-mh.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Our website and booking forms are intended for adults. If you are booking for a group that includes children, please do not send us more information about them than we need for your visit.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
